To be able to access this program you must first apply and enrol through PTP to ensure that this is the right program for you. To be eligible for a fully funded place you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be eligible to work or volunteer in Australia
  2. Be currently employed in a customer facing role
  3. Not completed any other infection control skill sets

Available courses

This program covers the unit of competency:

BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities

Students will learn about:

  • infection prevention and control procedures relevant to own work activities 
  • infection hazards, risk they pose, and required responses to each within scope of own role and responsibilities 
  • infection prevention and control procedures
  • use of required precautions and control measures, as required for own work activities
  • confining resources or pieces of equipment that are suspected of being contaminated
  • disposal of waste
  • nature and types of infection-related hazards in own work environment
  • chain of infection
  • key modes of disease transmission – contact, airborne and droplet
  • precautions and control measures for infection hazards associated with own role and work activities, including standard and transmission-based precautions:
  • required personal health and hygiene
  • organisational infection prevention and control procedures relating to own role, work activities and physical environment
  • handling and disposing of waste relating to own work activities, including contaminated waste
  • environmental cleaning of own work area, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces: procedures and specified schedules
  • infection prevention and control protocols required by own work activities


Contextualised for the construction industry, this program covers the unit of competency:

BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities

Students will cover the same information, however scenarios, activities and examples have been customised for the building and construction industry.
